Have you been implementing SDGs in your teaching practices?
Would you like to continue working with SDGs?
If your answers are all ‘yes’, then becoming a Teach SDGs Ambassador is something you might want to consider.
As an educator and a Teach SDGs Ambassador, I get a lot of questions about how to become an ambassador. I want to share with you the top 3 questions that I have been receiving from education specialists around the world.
Question 1. What is Teach SDGs Ambassadorship and where do I apply to become an ambassador?
Teach SDGs Ambassadorship is a title that is granted to educators with proven success in implementing SDGs in their educational practices. This is not a certification course! This is a community of educators united by one goal who are passionate about sustainability and work hard to bring it to their classrooms. All ambassadors receive an acknowledgment, a badge, and access to the community group for further communication and discussions on the topic.
The application runs annually from around mid-August until November 1st of the same year. Follow the Teach SDGs account on Twitter and check out the Teach SDGs website to stay tuned with the news and updates.
Question 2. What do I need to do to be a successful applicant?
The most important thing in your application is your work experience related to the Sustainable Development Goals in education. This is the most crucial point in your application.
Additionally, you will need to share links to any resources, articles, or websites related to your work with SDGs. Applicants that do not provide any links or share invalid links are very unlikely to be accepted.
Question 3. What if I am fascinated with SDGs but I am just starting to use them in my teaching. Can I still apply?
Yes, you are free to apply. However, the whole goal of the Teach SDGs Ambassadorship is to create a community of educators that have already been working hard towards achieving SDGs through educational practices. If you are only starting to work with SDGs, it’s better to accumulate experience first and then apply for the ambassadorship.
In the meantime, you are welcome to support the Teach SDGs movement by taking a few simple steps that will bring you closer to joining the community:
These steps will not only enrich your experience working with SDGs but will also help you to accumulate links and resources that you can share in the ambassadorship application. As you can see, digital portfolio plays quite an important role here.
